Education
As a child and later as a young adult, I moved numerous times. In each move, my mom and dad would renovate the houses, whether it was a kitchen, bathroom, basement, addition. Twice, we built houses that were designed by my dad. My parents taught me many aspects of rough and fine carpentry, wiring, plumbing, flooring, cabinetry, ceramic tile, and painting. That was, in itself, an invaluable education that helped me develop a career in construction and inspection.
Having a "self-diagnosed form of ADHD", my college education first took way too long, and second was extremely unfocused, running the gamut from art and architecture, marketing, pre-medicine, economics, business, and government through several schools including Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), George Mason, William & Mary, and Christopher Newport. I completed a B.S. degree in Business (Economics concentration) and Government from Liberty University. Pursuant to a J.D. degree, I've taken one year of law at Trinity Law School (CA), have a Paralegal certificate from George Mason, and am pursuing a Masters in Legal Studies at Regent University. (I plan to return to complete my J.D. in 2027.)
Through the ICC and the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), I obtained a certification as a Residential Combination Inspector, and am working toward the ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) designation.
